Obituary for Richard Dorfner

Richard  Dorfner
Mr. Dorfner was born in Halifax Hospital on October 7, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of Volusia county. He graduated from Mainland Senior High School in 1951. In 1952 he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Seabees. Richard or Dick as most people knew him as married Billie Sue Huffman in in 1956 and raised 5 children together, Walter Raymond Dorfner, Shirley Jean Dorfner, Mike Eugene Dorfner (deceased), Mac Emerson Dorfner (deceased), Denise Jewel Vanderpool. He was employed by Florida Power and Light in 1954 and worked 35 years and retired as lineman. In 2014 Billie Sue, his wife of 59 years after a battle with alzhiemers. Dick was a devoted father and husband who was an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan and lifelong Florida Gators fan. He enjoyed watching all sports especially football and baseball. Mr. Dorfner was a very honest and hardworking man that will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Janet Andersen, son Raymond daughters Denise and Jean, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from the hours of 4-7pm at the Cardwell Baggett and Summers Funeral Home. A Graveside service in his honor will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Woodland cemetery in Port Orange.
